Help me Ronda @ FedEx

About three weeks ago I gave up on getting my mail from the U.S. that has been floating around New Caledonia for a couple of months. I called my bank, asked them to invalidate the credit card in the New Caledonia mail and send me a new one to Brisbane. No problem they said. We can get you a new one in Australia in about a week. Great I said. After about two weeks and several trips to Australia Post no mail. I called my bank and they said its at Brisbane Airport. A couple of more trips to Australia Post. No mail. So I called the bank and asked for a tracking number. Then I called FedEx. “We don t deliver to Australia Post.” They might have told that to the shipper! After a dinghy ride, a Citi-cat ride, and an Uber car I finally got my debit card. Quality…Fair winds and following seas 🙂

Reduction of stress

It has been about 6 weeks since we lost the lower shrouds on the way to the Marquesas. First the 12 days of getting to a safe port. Then the knowledge we were making no progress in Hiva-Oa. The trip to Nuka-Hiva arriving to find that our temporary fix had almost failed. Days of swapping blueprints and photographs while negotiating with the riggers in the US. Then having the two boxes of rigging get separated on their trip to Nuka-Hiva. All of that I dealt with pretty much OK. What drove me crazy was the sound of the temporary shrouds stretching and loosening as Reboot rocked in the anchorage. Tonight is the first night that I will be able to sleep without listening and imagining the mast is going to come down any minute.Fair winds and following seas 🙂

Via Inmarsat:

After 3 weeks of seeing nothing but sea and sky (and rain) at 1201 utc last night we saw another ship. Despite many attempts to communicate via radio they refused to answer even as they cut 1 nm in front of oui bow. Bummer! 1998 nm to the Marquesas. It is just around the corner! OK. Twenty more days. Fair winds and following seas 🙂 Please note your reply is limited to 160 Latin characters or approximately 135 for non-Latin characters. Sent via Inmarsat. The mobile satellite company
